The campus of IISER Bhopal in an outlay of about 200 acres is a state of the art educational and research campus with lecture halls, well equipped Central Instrumentation Facility, library, computer facilities, research laboratories, meeting halls/auditoriums and residential facilities for the community members. IISER Bhopal is an Institute of national importance, and being ranked among top 10 institutions of the country as per the Nature Index Ranking 2020. The Institute has a total of 11 departments; namely, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Chemical Engineering, Data Sciences and Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences, Economic Sciences, and Humanities & Social Sciences. There are multiple centres of excellence such as CREATES to provide quality science education to UG and PG students and CS2 for academic-industry collaboration to make science popular among school students by conducting outreach. The prime focus of the Institute is to integrate science education with research. Also, the Institute is committed to impart high ethical values and create social and environmental awareness.
IISER Bhopal is located in the Capital city of Madhya Pradesh and is surrounded by premier institutes of India, such as School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and National Institute for Research in Environmental Health (NIREH). Within a few kilometres from the campus, a major Information Technology (IT) Park is under construction. Thus, an ecosystem of academic, technological and entrepreneurial excellence is emerging in this region and IICE incubator aims to stimulate the establishment and growth of technology-based startups and other compatible businesses in this ecosystem. In addition, being in Bhopal, the central place in India, IICE provides the best incubation opportunity for the startups aiming at growth pan-India. The incubator would also contribute to job creation, and provide for enhanced economic health to the region.
IISERB is now an established Institute with a robust infrastructure, and houses eminent faculty and motivated students who are keen to convert the in-house generated technologies/ideas into commercially viable products. The establishment of IICE TBI at IISER Bhopal is likely to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the campus and also in its vicinity.
